Scripture - Job 13:15 Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him;
Observation - Job was experiencing great difficulty in his life on every side. He was clear enough in his theology to understand that anything that was happening to him was allowed by God. He made it clear that even if God allowed his death, his hope would still continue to be in Him!
Application - The question that rings in my ear - if God allowed great harm to impact my life, would I still look to Him, trust Him, place my hope in Him? Job's words are pretty profound. It describes his commitment to the Lord, a commitment that is not based on outward circumstances or perks for relationship. It reminds me of the verse: Prov. 27:6 Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.
Prayer - Lord, though you slay me, help me to still place my hope in you. Even your wounds are faithful.
